Why Mountain View Homeowners Choose Carrier Air Duct Cleaning

We’re an independent Carrier in Mountain View, CA air duct cleaning company that specializes in the ductwork and airflow side of Carrier systems. If you own a Carrier Infinity, Performance, Comfort, or older WeatherMaker furnace or air handler, we know how these units behave when the ducts feeding them are dirty, leaky, or undersized. That’s the difference: most duct cleaners clean the ducts. We clean the ducts and understand what your Carrier equipment is doing with the air moving through them.

As an independent Carrier service provider, we’re not affiliated with or authorized by Carrier Corporation. We don’t claim to be. What we do claim is hands-on familiarity with the failure modes Carrier equipment exhibits in Mountain View homes, particularly the 1950s and 60s ranch and Eichler-style houses where original forced-air systems are still running. Call (866) 528-3938 to talk through what’s happening with your system.

Why Trust Duct Cleaning Mountain View for Your Carrier Air Duct Cleaning?

Dave Hanson, owner of Duct Cleaning Mountain View, grew up in the Shoreline West neighborhood of Mountain View. His father ran a small appliance repair shop out of the garage, which is where Dave first learned that mechanical systems tell you what’s wrong if you pay attention. He later completed the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning program at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills and has spent more than two decades doing duct work across Santa Clara County, including Los Altos. When we open a Carrier air handler cabinet, we know what we’re looking at.

Our approach to Carrier systems is built on a simple principle: the furnace or air handler is only as good as the duct system feeding it. Carrier’s Infinity series air handlers use variable-speed ECM motors that adjust airflow based on static pressure readings. When ducts are dirty or leaking, those motors work harder and ramp higher, which looks like an equipment problem but is usually a duct problem. We diagnose the whole system, not just the box with the badge. Professional-grade Rotobrush and Nikro cleaning systems handle the cleaning. Abatement Technologies HEPA filtration equipment captures what comes off the duct walls so it doesn’t recirculate into your living space. HEPA containment means what comes off your duct walls doesn’t go back into your air.

Mountain View’s housing stock shapes the work. Many of our Carrier calls come from post-war ranch homes and Eichler-style post-and-beam houses where rigid metal ducts wrapped in old fiberglass run through attics or under-floor crawl spaces. That fiberglass wrap deteriorates over decades and sheds into the airstream. We see it regularly. The fix is cleaning, then sealing, then verifying airflow at the registers.

Common Carrier Air Duct Cleaning Problems We Fix in Mountain View

  • Infinity and Performance variable-speed air handlers pulling return air past a poorly sealed filter cabinet. This is the most common Carrier-specific issue we encounter in Mountain View. The filter slot on the air handler cabinet has gaps around it, and when the ECM fan ramps up, it pulls unfiltered air from the garage or attic straight into the blower compartment. The blower wheel gets coated with dust, the evaporator coil loads up, and the motor compensates by running faster. We clean the blower wheel and coil, then seal the filter cabinet so the airstream actually passes through the filter.
  • Condensate and coil-cabinet sweating on Carrier cased coils. A Carrier cased coil that sweats excessively in summer is usually pulling return air from a hot, humid space like a garage or attic through disconnected flex collars or open seams. The coil gets cold, the humid air hits it, and water drips. This is a duct-side leak problem, not a manufacturing defect. We re-seal the return and plenum joints with mastic and the sweating stops.
  • Furnace limit trips and short cycling on Carrier 80% Comfort and WeatherMaker units. When a Carrier 80% gas furnace trips the high limit and shuts down mid-cycle, owners often assume the heat exchanger is failing. In many Mountain View homes, the real cause is an undersized or crushed flex return run starving the furnace of airflow. The heat builds, the limit opens, the furnace cycles. Cleaning the return side and restoring proper airflow fixes the symptom without touching the heat exchanger.
  • Loose factory joints and taped plenum seams on legacy 58-series furnaces. Older Carrier furnaces in Mountain View ranch homes often have plenums and supply trunks that were taped at the factory or during installation decades ago. The tape dries out, the joints open, and conditioned air leaks into unconditioned attic or crawl space. Bedrooms at the end of the run get weak airflow. We seal those joints with mastic, which is a permanent fix compared to re-taping.
  • Dust-loaded blower wheels on Carrier ECM motors. Carrier Infinity and Performance air handlers use electronically commutated motors that are quieter and more efficient than PSC motors, but they’re also more sensitive to imbalance. A blower wheel caked with dust runs out of balance and can cause motor bearing wear or vibration noise. Cleaning the wheel restores balance and extends motor life. We clean the wheel as part of our full system cleaning rather than replacing the motor prematurely.

Carrier Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

We use genuine Carrier OEM parts for model-specific components. That means blower motors on Infinity air handlers, limit switches on Comfort and WeatherMaker furnaces, and coil cabinets on cased evaporators. These parts have exact electrical and dimensional specifications, and substituting aftermarket components there creates more problems than it solves. For non-brand-specific materials like flex duct, mastic, and insulation, we use quality aftermarket products where performance is equivalent to OEM.

The repair-versus-replace conversation is one we take seriously. A 25-year-old Carrier WeatherMaker in a Mountain View ranch with a failing heat exchanger is at the end of its life, and we’ll tell you that. But a 12-year-old Infinity air handler with a dirty blower wheel and a leaking return? That’s a cleaning and sealing job, not a replacement. We’ll show you photos from the video inspection so you can see what we’re seeing. Call (866) 528-3938 if you want an honest read on your system.

Our Carrier Service Process – Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis. We start with a full inspection of the Carrier equipment and the connected duct system. That includes static pressure readings on Infinity and Performance systems, temperature checks at supply registers, and video inspection of the return and supply sides. We’re looking for leaks, restrictions, and contamination loading.
  2. 2
Cleaning and sealing. We run Rotobrush or Nikro professional-grade cleaning systems through the ducts with Abatement Technologies HEPA filtration capturing dislodged debris. In the same visit, we clean the evaporator coil and blower wheel, then seal accessible return and plenum joints with mastic. Duct sealing on Carrier systems is done at the same time as cleaning because cleaning opens up access to the joints.
  3. 3
System test. After cleaning and sealing, we re-test static pressure and register temperatures and compare them to the pre-work readings. On Infinity systems, the ECM motor should settle back to lower-speed operation once the airflow restriction is removed. We verify that before we leave.
  4. 4
Documentation and recommendations. You get before-and-after photos from inside the Carrier coil cabinet and duct runs, plus a written summary of what we found and what we fixed. If we identify a broken duct, separated joint, or equipment condition beyond cleaning scope, we quote the air duct repair separately and explain why it matters.

Carrier Products We Service & Install in Mountain View

We service and clean duct systems attached to Carrier equipment across the full residential lineup, including Infinity modulating gas furnaces and variable-speed air handlers, Performance series furnaces and air handlers, Comfort series 80% and 90%+ gas furnaces, and legacy WeatherMaker and 58-series units still operating in many older Mountain View homes, as well as Carrier in Cupertino. We also supply and work with Honeywell and Aprilaire air quality products, including media filtration and ventilation accessories that work alongside Carrier equipment. For homeowners who want cleaner air to stay that way, Honeywell and Aprilaire solutions bridge the gap between a one-time cleaning and long-term indoor air quality.

We stock common Carrier-compatible filters, mastic, flex duct, and sealing materials locally for faster turnaround on Mountain View jobs. We do not stock Carrier OEM electronic boards or motors, which we order on a per-job basis when repair work requires them.

We Also Service These Brands

Carrier is a focus of our work, but it’s not the only brand we service. We clean and repair duct systems connected to Lennox and Trane equipment as well, and we approach those brands with the same equipment-serious mindset. From dryer vent to supply register, we cover every part of the system regardless of what badge is on the air handler.
